Why Blogging is important?

I reached back home with a heavy heart and little moist eyes. The waves of emotions were crashing through my mind and heart. It had been nearly 4 years in that organization. However, the first day of joining was still fresh in my mind. My husband looked at me and said, YAYY!!,” so you are going to party tonight, as today was your last working day in this organization”! I looked at him suspiciously and thought, yeah, I should be happy; after all, I decided to quit this organization. I smiled at him back and said, yes, let’s celebrate!

I was excited about my next stint. However, in the back of my mind, I wasn’t feeling thrilled. I was looking forward to my new opportunity, but I wanted to talk about what I had been through in detail. Why did I make this decision? I wanted to reflect deeply, learn, and observe my journey from day 1 until my last day. I wasn’t sure with whom I shall share or discuss my story.

I tried sharing with my husband, but he gets bored after a while and told me, “Please, look ahead and forget what happened”. I said to him, “I would try, and I understand that”. But I knew it wasn’t easy for me. I had a month before my next job. The days passed but I wasn’t feeling myself and constantly something was bothering me. One day I read the quote somewhere, “Look back to Look Ahead”. Suddenly an idea popped into my head. I opened my laptop and started writing down my experience. It was almost like the way you write a daily diary. The difference was I wanted to put down everything on the blank screen-My journey, emotions, mistakes, improvements, things I could have done differently, my perspective, and my learnings. I kept on writing for the next 3 hours. Surprisingly, after finishing, I felt so good and light. The heaviness I was feeling in my heart had vanished. It was like someone had lifted the tons of weight I was carrying on my shoulder and in my heart. It was an amazing, relaxing feeling. It was then that I realized how powerful words, and writing in turn, could be.

It was the year 2014. I wrote, rewrote, and proofread my story multiple times. I enjoyed the whole exercise. Penciling down my thoughts was a reaffirmation of my thinking and a deep reflection of my actions. In the whole process, I learned about myself better. I always believe, that before you can understand others, you must first understand yourself.

That was the day, I decided to write my stories for myself. However, I didn’t start blogging and sharing with the public yet. It took me another 3 years before I could begin blogging formally. I chose to blog because I think I am not yet ready to write a book and enjoy sharing my personal stories and learnings in brief. I still remember the day, when I wrote my first blog. I published it anonymously as I thought everybody would laugh at me. First, I shared it with my husband and then my sister. They both liked it and later, I could get the courage to share it with my friends.

Well, now I published my blogs confidently on a medium website. They are purely my views from my perspective and there is nothing right or wrong about them. It’s up to an individual to read or ignore. But blogging gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction.

In the end, I would say, there are 3 main benefits of blogging as per my perspective:

  1. It helps you emotionally especially if you are an introvert or not able to express your opinions openly. In that case, blogging or writing is a wonderful medium. It gives you a voice and you can confidently share your views, opinions, and feelings with this world.
  2. It helps you to understand yourself better. Like I write my experiences and in that process every time I discover something new about myself. In a sense, it is like confirming my decisions, and values and revisiting some of my past actions. It helps to build different perspectives altogether.
  3. Lastly, it helps to reaffirm your thoughts and is a great way to improve your communication skills as well.

Nevertheless, blogging gives you the platform to share information about your business and its services as well. A great way to promote. I strongly recommend any form of writing, whether it is blogging, writing a book, or keeping a diary. Trust me, it would help you to evolve into a confident, and successful person.
