Know Your Communication Style!
Have you ever had a moment when you conveyed a message confidently and were happy about it, but it was misunderstood and not taken in the same spirit by the other person? The style of communication you were using may not be suitable for the situation.
How we communicate is a direct reflection of who we are. How effectively we communicate in different situations will impact our success in various aspects of our lives. Do you know your communication style? Do you know how to adapt your style to other situations?
Before I share more about Communication styles, let me share my recent experience at the workplace on a “Communication Disaster.”
My boss and I joined the client meeting online. A few other executives from Sales and delivery were in the room with our Client to discuss changes as per SOW (contract). The topic was “Change Requests to be Controlled.”
What is CR? Well, CR stands for Change request. Any deviation in Business requirements per the agreed contract is called a Change Request. These changes can significantly impact the project’s total cost and timelines. The clients are usually against the CRs as it means they have to shell out more money.
