Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

By-Thomas Alva Edison

Calling it off or quitting is easy when you don’t get the desired outcome. By giving up, you accept failure. You admit that what you’ve dreamt of or wanted to achieve was of no value to you in the first place. You think that you’ve wasted much time chasing futile dreams. The truth is that it reflects your imprudence and impatience. Well, what’s the right way to approach it?

Before I answer that, let me share my short story with you all. I had previously written a few blogs on the lesson one can learn by growing and caring for plants and can apply in life too. This is another one.

I have been trying to grow India Basis- Tulsi plant from the Seeds for the last four summer seasons. The Seeds I collected were from my homegrown Tulsi plant only. Every summer, I tried, but nothing ever grew out of the Pot. After planting the seeds, I would wait for days and weeks. I would water them but all in vain. Out of frustration, I always bought the Tulsi plan from the shops. I cared for the plant, then winter came, and the plant dried, and once again, I collected the Seeds to try for the following summer. This entire process continued for the next four years, and the result was the same.

This year I got frustrated and decided to quit. However, I had some seeds collected during the winter season from my dried Tulsi plant. I decided to throw them away. I had accepted that I couldn’t grow this Tulsi plant from the Seeds — the Plant growers who achieve that are exceptional and better than me.

I was about to dump all the seeds, but something told me to try again. I threw most of the Seeds away, but some of them I planted in the same Pot. However, this time, I tried one thing differently. After planting the Seeds, I covered the Pot with plastic wrap for some days. I watered the Seeds in moderation, and honestly, I forgot about this Pot for some days. After a few days, the plastic cover flew away, and I didn’t bother to put it back either. I continued to water, and then,

I left for my Hawaii vacation. I had no expectations anyways. When I returned six days after the trip, I checked the Pot. Surprisingly, I saw tiny little plants growing in the Pot this time. I got excited but wanted to be sure that it was Tulsi only. I waited a few days for the sprouts to grow a little. Then I checked thoroughly; they were Tulsi plants. I am amazed and excited.

Finally, after four years of failed trials, when I was almost about to give up, I succeeded.

Let’s playback in our minds and try to understand why and how I became successful this time.

  1. The First thing that is quite evident is that I tried one more time before calling it off. And this is the right approach for you and anyone toward your goals, dreams, and desires.
  2. Secondly, I tried again, but I tried differently. It says if you keep trying in the same manner every time, the results will be the same too. Thanks for the Insta video for teaching me the trick of wrapping the plastic over the Pot for some days. I learned that a Seed needs the right temperature, water, and humidity to grow into a beautiful green plant.

Before you decide to quit your plans, actions, or dreams, always try one more time.
